Letter from Mrs. Slot

Dear Parents & Guardians,

This school year has been one of the most rewarding because of the wonderful students I teach. It has been a privilege and honor to work with these young people; our learning journey inspires me each day. Unfortunately I will need to be out of the classroom for an extended period. I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. My prognosis is good. After my treatment, I plan on returning to the classroom. While I am away, your child will be in good hands and learning will continue. Both of my teammates, Gary Hessler and Sara Gregory, are helping with my team leader duties. Agenda Week of 1/25-1/29

Hat Day

To help those that are suffering in Haiti, student council is sponsoring a hat day. Tomorrow students can pay $1.00 to wear a hat during school tomorrow. Students will pay their Inspire teacher. Money will be collected to help the Three Angels Orphanage in Haiti. You can check the link for more information. www.ThreeAngelsHaiti.org

Here's the agenda for the week. Your child should have exam reviews for all of his/her classes. Please make sure that he/she studies these review sheets in preparation for exams!

End of the Marking Period

Can you believe that we are almost half way through the school year? The half way point of the school year means one thing...EXAMS!! Your son or daughter will have exams in all of his/her core classes and the exams will be cumulative, meaning they cover everything from the start of the year until now. We will be giving each student a study guide to help prepare for the exam. The study guide is an excellent tool to help students study for the exam. We tell students that the best way to study is not just to read information over and over again but to have someone quiz them on the material. Please sit down with your child and quiz them on the material that will be on the exam. I think you will see better exam grades if your child studies with someone else. The exam schedule is listed below. Note that exam days are 1/2 days and students will be dismissed at 10:55.

• Wednesday, January 20 2nd & 5th hour exams
• Thursday, January 21 3rd & 4th hour exams
• Friday, January 22 6th & 7th hour exams

Reminder, Friday, January 15 (this Friday) is the last day to turn in any missing work.
